Panama City Beach is a resort town in Bay County, Florida, United States, on the Gulf of Mexico coast. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 12,018. Panama City Beach's slogan is "The World's Most Beautiful Beaches" due to the unique, sugar-white sandy beaches of northwest Florida. The town is also a popular spring break destination, due to its beach and proximity to most of the Southern United States. The first two seasons of MTV's Floribama Shore were filmed in the town.Category 5 Hurricane Michael made landfall near Mexico Beach on October 10, 2018, becoming one of the strongest and most-destructive hurricanes in American history as it destroyed a large part of the county, including many structures in Mexico Beach and Panama City. The city is located at 30°1227N 85°515W (30.207362, 85.851485). There are approximately 9 miles (14 km) of shoreline in Panama City beach fronting the gulf of Mexico. The main roads through the city are U.S. Route 98 and Florida State Road 30. US 98 runs from northwest to southeast just inland from the coast, leading east 10 mi (16 km) to Panama City and northwest 47 mi (76km) to Destin. FL-30 runs along the coast from northwest. to southeast as Front Beach Rd, leading east to Panama city and northwest 15 mi (24 km)to Rosemary Beach. The racial makeup of the city was 89.5% White, 2.3% African American, 0.6% American Indian or Alaska Native, 2.7% Asian and 3.1% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.8% of the population.


Panama City Beach is the primary city name, but also Alys Beach, Grande Pointe, Inlet Beach, P C Beach, Panama City, Rosemary Bch, Seacrest, Watersound are acceptable city names or spellings, W Panama City Beach, West Panama City Beach on the other hand no longer accepted or obsolete and are no longer used as a designation. The official name is Panama City Beach, Florida. Beachfront property has sold for upwards of $60,000 per "front foot" (linear foot) at the top of the market. At the peak of the real estate boom, many beachfront properties had quadrupled or more in value since 2000. In November 2006 CNN/Money named Panama City Beach the No. 1 real estate market in America for the next five years.Category 5 Hurricane Michael made landfall near Mexico Beach in Bay County on October 10, 2018, becoming one of the strongest and most-destructive hurricanes in American history as it destroyed a large part of the county, including many structures in Mexico Beach and Panama City. An EF-0 tornado did minor damage to the northwest part of Panama City beach, Florida on February 15th. The downturn in the U.S. real estate Market in 2007, combined with a surge of new condo construction, brought spiraling prices somewhat under control. The area has become a well known destination for spring break, with many families traveling to Panama City for their annual spring break. The city has also been the site of several hurricanes, including Hurricane Michael in October of this year, and Hurricane Andrew in August of 2012, which destroyed much of the city's downtown area. The town has a reputation for being a great place to hang out with friends and family, especially during spring break and the summer months. It is also a popular destination for college students, who flock to the area for their spring and summer vacation. The community has been the scene of several high-profile murders, including the shooting of Trayvon Martin and the attempted murder of Michael Brown.

The city has an estimated population of 2,000,000 (2,000 per cent of the population of the state of Florida). It is the largest city in the Florida panhandle, with a population of 1,816,000. The population of Destin, Florida, is 1,715,000; it is the state's second-largest city, after Panama City, with 1,914,000 people. It is located on the Florida Gulf Coast, just south of the town of Panama City. It has an elevation of 30.3 meters (98.7 feet) and a population density of 1, 938 per square mile (2.2 per square kilometer).


As of the census of 2010, there were 12,018 people, 5,417 households, and 3,068 families residing in the city. There were 17,141 housing units at an average density of 931.6 houses per square mile (360.1/km²) The racial makeup of the city was 89.5% White, 2.3% African American, 0.6% American Indian or Alaska Native, 2,7% Asian and 3.1% from two or more races. The city is located on the U.S.-Mexico border and is on the border of the state of New Mexico. It is the only city in New Mexico that is not on the National Register of Historic Places. It has a population of about 12,000, making it one of the smallest cities in the state. It was the site of the World War II Battle of the Bulge, which took place in World War I and II. The town's name comes from the word "bulge" or "bullet" which means "to blow" or to "blow up".


The City of Panama City Beach has a councilmanager government. The Mayor sits as a Council member-at-large and presides over City Council meetings. The City Manager is responsible for the administration and the day-to-day operation of all of the municipal services and city departments. Part of the City is in unincorporated Bay County and is under the jurisdiction of the Bay County Sheriff's Office. The primary law enforcement agency in the city is the Panama City beach Police Department. The Vice Mayor is the presiding officer of the meeting until the Mayor returns to his seat. If the Mayor cannot preside over a City Council meeting, then the vice mayor is in charge until the mayor returns to the seat. The city's mayor is Mark Sheldon, whose term expires in 2024. The mayor's office is located in the City's City Hall building, which is also the home of the city's fire department. The fire department has its headquarters in the same building as the City Hall. The police department is based in Panama City City Beach and has its own headquarters in Bay County. The Fire Department has its HQ in Bay City and is part of the Police Department's jurisdiction. the City Manager maintains intergovernmental relationships with federal, state, county and other local governments. the city has a fire department that is based at the City Council building. the fire department's headquarters is in theCity Hall building. The Police Department operates out of the Fire Department's Fire Department Headquarters, which also lies in City City.


Primary and secondary public education is provided by the Bay District Schools (BDS) The Gulf Coast State College is located in Panama City, just across the Hathaway Bridge from Panama City Beach. The Florida State University Panama City branch campus is also located in the Panama City area. The city is home to the Panamanian National Guard, which is based in the city of Panama City. The Panama City International Airport is located on the Gulf of Mexico coast. It is the largest airport in the state, with a population of more than 1,000,000. The airport is also home to a number of private businesses, such as Panama City Airport, which serves as a gateway to the city. The Panamanians are known for their love of sports, particularly football and baseball, and are known as "Panamanians" for their passion for the game of football. The area is home to a large number of theme parks, including Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, and SeaWorld Tampa. The town of Panama City is the largest city in Bay County, Florida, with a population of more than 100,000. The town was also featured in the 2012 film "Sleeping Beauty" and the 2013 film "American Beauty" The city is also featured on the cover of the book "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" and in the movie "The Adventures of Peculiar Pussycat" in which it stars Kate Winslet, Emma Watson and Nick Cannon. It is also a setting for "The Lego Movie," in which the characters play a group of teenagers who go on a night out on the town. The city also features in the book and film "Fantastic Mr. Fox," which is based on the book by the same name. It was published by Simon & Schuster in 2007. The book is about the lives of the characters who live on the beach. The movie was released in 2009. It has been adapted into a film of the same title in 2015. The film is called "Dancing with the stars" and was directed by Spike Jonze.
