According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.51 square miles (6.50 km²) of which, 2.47 square miles of it is land and 0.04 square miles is water. A post office called Cameron has been in operation since 1882. The village was named for Angus Cameron, a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin. It is located on the Wisconsin River, near the town of Waukesha.
